Fine Arts in the Sierra Nevada
Visual Arts + Exploration Camp is designed for campers ages 10–13, blending studio-based fine arts with outdoor adventure in the Tahoe backcountry. Building on the foundation of Art & Adventure, this program immerses campers in exploration-driven creativity, where time in nature fuels artistic inspiration and curiosity.
In the studio, campers create detailed works across a range of mediums, including charcoal drawing, watercolor and acrylic painting, and 3D art such as clay sculpture and upcycled materials. Instruction emphasizes both technical skill development and creative experimentation, encouraging campers to work with traditional tools as well as found objects and innovative techniques.
All sessions are led by professional art educators and highly skilled local artists, ensuring strong guidance and mentorship throughout. Daily excursions into Martis Valley and Tahoe National Forest – featuring hikes along alpine trails, lake shores, and important watersheds – provide a constant source of inspiration, which campers translate into original works created both outdoors and in the studio.
