SOLVE PROBLEMS, COLLABORATE + TEAM BUILD BOTS
This summer camp inspires students to become the problem-solving heroes of tomorrow.
Campers will learn the fundamentals of robot design and programming, using the VEX IQ Platform showcased here – www.vexrobotics.com. The VEX IQ Platform is endorsed and supported in schools across the nation by NASA! According to Vex, the specific VEX IQ Platforms we utilize in camp ‘is based on plastic, snap-together pieces specifically designed to build highly functional robots. This system doesn’t require any prior knowledge in robotics. Students can easily build their first robot, and the wide variety of additional parts means that they can build anything they imagine as they continue to learn. Every kit includes a hand tool to make assembly and disassembly easy for small hands.’
This program will be differentiated to engage learners of all levels, from those building their first robot to students who have already mastered the fundamentals and are looking for a design challenge. Return campers will dive deep into Vex programming, while first timers will create remote controlled bots to complete functional tasks and challenges.
Outside of the STEM Lab, campers will work in teams and complete physical challenges. Campers will also play organized sports and enjoy free play time after lunch each day to balance time spent designing and programming Vex Robots.
Ages: 10 years old – 13 years old. Campers will work in small groups with similar age campers.
